Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026. This Privacy Policy explains what information ToolWeb (tool-web.dev) does and does not collect when you use our website and tools, and how we keep your data private.
verified_user The short version
- cloud_off Your files are never uploaded. Every ToolWeb tool processes your files entirely inside your browser, on your own device.
- visibility_off We can't see your data. Because your files never reach our servers, we have no way to access, store, or share them.
- badge No account needed. ToolWeb does not require you to sign up or provide any personal information to use the tools.
- analytics Limited, standard data. Like most websites, we use privacy-friendly analytics and advertising, explained in full below.
1. How Our Tools Handle Your Files
This is the most important part of our policy, so we'll be direct: ToolWeb tools run 100% in your browser. When you use a tool — such as the image converter, image compressor, JSON formatter, or any other utility — your file is read into your browser's local memory, processed there using WebAssembly, and the result is returned to you directly.
Your files are never uploaded to our servers, never transmitted over the internet, and never stored by us. When you close or refresh the page, anything you were working on is cleared from memory. We have no copies because we never received them in the first place.
2. Information We Collect
We aim to collect as little as possible. The information involved falls into three groups:
- Your files and tool input (not collected): As explained above, the content you load into a tool stays on your device and is never sent to us.
- Information you choose to give us: If you email us — for example, to report a bug or suggest a tool — we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use this only to respond to you.
- Information collected automatically: When you visit, our analytics and advertising partners may record standard technical data such as your approximate region, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, and which pages you view. This does not identify you personally and is used to understand overall usage and keep the site running.
3. Cookies and Local Storage
ToolWeb uses a small amount of browser storage and cookies for the following purposes:
- Preferences (local storage): We save your settings — such as light or dark theme — in your browser's local storage so the site remembers them on your next visit. This data stays on your device and is not sent to us.
- Analytics: We use privacy-friendly analytics to measure overall traffic. It collects anonymous, aggregated usage data and does not build advertising profiles of you.
- Advertising: Our advertising partner (Google AdSense) may use cookies to show relevant ads and measure their performance. You can control or disable personalized advertising at any time, as described in the next section.
4. Third-Party Services
To run and support the website, ToolWeb relies on a few trusted third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy governing the limited data it handles.
Google AdSense
Displays ads that keep ToolWeb free. It may use cookies to serve and measure ads. See Google's advertising policies to manage your preferences.
Vercel Analytics
Provides privacy-friendly, aggregated traffic statistics. It does not use tracking cookies or collect personally identifiable information.
Google Fonts
Loads the typefaces used across the site. When fonts are requested, your browser's IP address is visible to Google as part of the standard request.
Vercel Hosting
Serves the website. Like any web host, it may process standard server request logs to deliver pages and protect against abuse.
5. How We Use Information
We use the limited information described above only to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve the website and its tools.
- Understand which tools are popular so we can prioritize what to build next.
- Display advertising that helps keep ToolWeb free to use.
- Respond to questions, feedback, and bug reports you send us.
- Detect, prevent, and address technical issues, abuse, or security threats.
We do not sell your personal information, and we never have access to the files you process with our tools.
6. Data Security
Keeping your file processing on your own device is, by design, one of the strongest privacy protections available — data that never travels can't be intercepted in transit or exposed in a server breach. The website itself is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection. That said, no method of transmission over the internet is ever completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security for the limited standard data handled by our third-party partners.
7. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, privacy laws such as the GDPR (Europe) and CCPA (California) give you rights over your personal data, including the right to access, correct, or delete it, and to opt out of personalized advertising.
- Advertising choices: You can opt out of personalized ads through Google Ad Settings.
- Cookies: You can clear or block cookies and local storage at any time through your browser's settings.
- Requests: To exercise any data right relating to information you've sent us directly, contact us using the details below.
8. Children's Privacy
ToolWeb is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to remove it.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our services or for legal reasons. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
